The DroneGun MkIII is a drone jamming device developed by the Australian company DroneShield. It is designed to disable drones in a safe and effective manner by disrupting their communication links and GPS signals, causing them to land or return to their point of origin. The DroneGun MkIII is a handheld device that weighs approximately 6.5 kilograms and has a range of up to 1.5 kilometers. It operates on a frequency range of 433 MHz, 915 MHz, 2.4 GHz, and 5.8 GHz, which covers the most common communication channels used by consumer drones.
When activated, the DroneGun MkIII uses directional antennas to disrupt the drone’s communication links, preventing the operator from controlling the device. It also disrupts the drone’s GPS signals, causing it to lose its position and either land or return to its point of origin.
*The DroneGun MkIII doesn’t actually shoot physical projectiles, it instead temporarily disconnects or scrambles the connection between the targeted drone and to the remote controller.
