‘Strategic deception’ is a necessary and invaluable tactic for both professional and personal objectives (mission, survival etc.), but there is a lasting burden to utilizing it.

LINER TRADECRAFT

Strategic deception is engaging in deceptive tactics only when it’s absolutely necessary for mission objectives and survival / preservation.

This isn’t about the morality of lying but, for a lack of a better word, to be good at it.

One of the most important factors of lying like a professional is the way of ‘deception necessitation‘.

The cost of each lie produced has an unknown cost of the burden it will entail the deceiver. This burden may never be realized but it often lingers indefinitely.

The truth is strong and self supporting. A lie is fragile and needs supporting for the life of the need / purpose of the deception, and or for as long as the deceived individual lives / remembers / cares.

The truth really does set you free in this regard but there’s so much more we can do with deception, that’s why we deceive.

Deceive only when necessary but weigh the price of it and prepare to pay the cost of each lie’s burden.
